it just so happens that one of my most cherished places in san francisco, where i tell everyone who visits to go, is also one of my favorite venues in my home city to document weddings. i feel lucky to live within a stone's throw of golden gate park to have such expansive nature in the middle of an urban environment. i've spent countless hours walking its trails, sitting under trees, watching the birds... it's where i go to slow down, to smell the flowers, to simply be.
the san francisco botanical garden sits on the eastern side of the park and contains a truly astonishing diversity of plant life from around the world. where else can you see an andean cloud forest of wax palms, south african proteas, and japanese magnolia in one day? but i promise you don't have to be a plant nerd like me to feel the magic that this place holds. it connects people to plants and to the planet, that's the real beauty.
tina and tripp married intimately in the redwood grove, glowing in love for each other. it was a powerful and teary ceremony to witness, mostly because they are two very special and connected human beings, but the landscape contributed its energy and abundance for sure. i loved that they did things a little bit out of order... after their ceremony, we headed over to a grassy spot for champagne (and hot dogs, because there was a cart at the entrance to the gardens!), and then we made our way back to their room at cavallo point. they built some quiet downtime into the middle of their day to rest and get ready for the second half of the celebration... dinner at the quirky and slightly strange sausalito seahorse. who says you have to do things in any particular order? there are no rules! thankful for being a part of this joyful day.
to see a few more weddings in a redwood or park setting: kendra + peter at joaquin miller park in oakland // vanessa + dan at hacienda de la flores in moraga
