nicole and tony married in their friend's backyard in guerneville, beneath a small cluster of towering redwood trees. their wedding officially united their five (!!) young kids together as family, who were all beaming with joy to see their parents marry. it was clear they already loved each other as siblings, but this day was a meaningful act for each of them. my favorite moment during the ceremony was when the seven of them stood in a circle holding hands... a powerful symbol for the kids, who also served as their wedding party.
the witnessing of this family on their wedding day was an incredibly personal and healing experience for me. simply for the tenderness and vulnerability it contained, so beautiful and true. before the ceremony, tony and nicole proudly showed me their newest tattoos... the number 7. later in the reception, watching the kids give the most sweet and honest speeches, and then slow dancing with their parents, i couldn’t hold back the tears. i'm beyond thankful for the experience of this joyful and sacred day.
