Intimate Mendocino Forest Wedding at The Brambles Hideaway

Keeping things super small and intentional allowed Emily and Joey to really focus on what mattered most to them. They valued intimacy and an abundance of quality time with family and closest friends, so they opted for a celebration with 20 of their dearest people. They lovingly arranged and created so many details and touches, including the florals and table design, while still letting go and staying present with their community. I loved that they made personalized decks of cards for each guest, knowing they all shared a love for playing games. The entire celebration felt relaxed, slow, and joyful.

An intimate wedding dinner party under towering redwood trees at The Brambles Hideaway in Mendocino county

Where do I begin with this gem of a venue?! For anyone who wants to be fully immersed in nature and a forest environment while still retaining accessibility and ease, I can’t think of a better spot. The Brambles Hideaway feels like a cozy, private redwoods retreat in Mendocino county (near its sister property The Madrones, which allows you to expand hosting options.) During the ceremony, a light breeze brought a gentle rain of redwood needles that felt completely magical. Later in the evening after a family-style meal (shout out to the incredible chefs at Wickson!) they danced under a sky full of stars.

Tip: this is one of those locations that actually works equally well for a dinner party of 15 or reception for 100 (I’ve documented weddings of both sizes here and was amazed by the creative use of space). I think the towering trees and semicircular terrace creates warmth and closeness, while still being spacious enough to hold more people. Plus, there are multiple areas to choose for each part of the day, so you can create the flow you want through the redwood groves.
