this was the first wedding i photographed after the pandemic had begun, 3 or so months into the initial shelter-in-place of 2020. it was such a strange time in the world, but i quickly felt at ease after meeting katja and nick. we met at their home in sausalito, where they got ready together, each with the support and love of a close friend.
the three of us walked down the hill from their neighborhood to a spot they had picked for their elopement in the marin headlands, overlooking the bay and san francisco skyline. towards the end of their ceremony, the sun broke through the clouds and made the moment feel extra magical. they celebrated with champagne, stopping a few times on the walk back up the hill to refill their glasses.
